Anyone Make A Decision Between Hormonal Treatment And Radiation?
Recent lumpectomy with clear margins and clear lymph nodes. Diagnosis is IDC, stage 2.
The side effects from the pill sound bad, need to be on it for 5 years.
Radiation would be for 21 treatments.
What have others done?
I am Stage 0 Grade 1, Lumpectomy and 3 weeks of radiation. 1 week down 2 to go. I chose not to take Anti Hormone Medication. I already have arthritis. With a low stage my occurrence rate is very low.
I also have IDC with clear margins and nodes. I did 16 radiation treatments but I'm still weighing the hormone treatments vs quality of life. I have started taking 100 mg of DIM (dindolylmethane) supplements. The goal is balanced estrogen levels. I decided to give it 3 months and reevaluate. We all need to make decisions based on our own bodies. Best of luck to you. β€
I had a lump ectomy in 2017, lymph nodes and surrounding tissue were clean and no cancer. I received and Eight. Chemotherapy Treatments, 20 radiation treatments, one year of herseptin, and perjetta infusion, I have been taking a anastrozole, and I have to take it for 10 years because of the type of cancer cells ,I had Luminal B and Her2 positive.cancer cells. I try to keep very active with water, exercise, and weight training.
I have very weak knees because of arthritis and itβs just hereditary, so that is where most of my pain that I experience. I have been going to Zion, Illinois, the cancer treatment center of America, which is now called City Of Hope, for my surgery and treatments. I have been going every six months. I never questioned my oncologist when he suggested I take anastrozole. I hope this is helpful to you all.
My diagnosis and treatment is nearly identical. to yours. I am on day 7 of 21 radiation and will resume the aromatase inhibitor after radiation (took it for a month before). I'm not really interested in having a recurrence of breast cancer.
I had a lumpectomy in November(IDC) stage 1, grade 2..clean margins, no lymph nodes, oncotype 27...but low mammoprint. ...decided to do mastectomy with autologous reconstruction. 7 weeks post op and very happy I didn't do chemotherapy or radiation. Still trying to decide about medications. My gut says no way..oncologist suggested doing a trial of Tamoxifen.
