Have any of you undergone surgery or a procedure to "fix" an uncomfortable implant? If so, could you tell me what you had done, how the recovery went, and what the results were? I had a DMX in April and had my exchange surgery two weeks ago. I know these implants should be more bearable as the muscles calm down and everything, but I'm concerned that I may still not be able to deal with the discomfort of them. Do I have any options other than having them removed? Mine were placed under the… read more

Thanks for your answer, Debra. Can I ask how long you've had your implants in? I'm feeling much the same as you described, and am hoping and praying they'll feel better once they "settle down".

I am just 1 year out from double mastectomy. I then had reconstruction, chemo and radiation. I had my follow up last week and my implants are finally starting to settle down. They felt like sand bags, I felt the edges, they hurt. I hated them. My plastic surgeon said give it 2 years, then we can discuss options. We'll, I am at the point now where I can tolerate them. We will see what the next year will do. But I am hopeful that it will keep getting better.

Thank you so much for sharing that. It is very encouraging to hear that you "don't even think about them." That's what I was hoping for.
