Re: ILC Breast Cancer. Have You Had Any Follow Up MRI’s Yearly After Surgery?
What protocols have you been given after you completed ILC radiation therapy?
ILC is hard to see with mammograms and ultrasounds. MRI’s show ILC better as ILC is a string of individual cells rather than a tumor that can be seen.
Are you working with an ILC breast specialist and are there any in your area?
Only 15% of Breast Cancer is ILC.
I had an MRI after a car accident to check if implants were still good. I’ll have another next year as a procedural five year check on implants. Due to my aggressive cancer, I decided to do double mastectomy just to reduce my chances for recurrence as much as possible. So far, six years out, I’m doing good with just regular check ups: ultrasounds annually and the MRI next year.

I am so sorry that they put you the Nerlynx protocol. Not many women can take even a full month of this. It is awful!l. I had a rash begin, but it's not a rash...it is itching, like constant mosquito bites with no bumps or blisters. I told my Oncologist when I saw her so she prescribed Gabapentin to control the nerves. I could not even wake up after 100 mg dose so quit this afterc 2 days. I researched and found that Pruritis is a known problem with "chemo" drugs. Mine was acute and took 4 months to get through. I later obtained notes from my Oncologist that she knew what this was, in her notes, yet wanted me to continue Nerlynx. The pharmacy dollars are huge!! And our doctors are made to make sales....not saying they want to....I believe in the call for those who enter this profession as good and holistic practioners. But I think our system tries to make them sell their soul for $$$.
I had a mammogram in August and found a lump in April. So maybe ultrasound should be part of preventive medicine

Sending you super hugs.
Thank you for your post.
My ILC was found on routine mammogram. Follow up MRI was done on opposite breast as precautionary. Found nothing in other breast. My chemo was no different than IDC and was told ILC is just as treatable. I think my oncologist is quite knowledgeable on both IDC and ILC but not considered a specialist which isn’t a big deal to me. I’m going on 9 years NED and am happy with my treatment protocol which was lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and Letrozole (which I’m still taking).
Is Having A CAT Scan Show The Same Information That The Oncologist Gets The Same As You Get On A MRI?
I Gained 10 Lbs Per Year While Undergoing 5 Years Of Tamoxphin. Struggling To Loose Even 1 Lb. Does Anyone Have Any Suggestions?
What Is The Timeline For Having A Follow Up Mammogram After Radiation?
