Thanks Joyce. My lumpectomy was Nov 29. What remained of the cancer itself (following an initial needle biopsy that removed most of it) was less than 2mm. So tiny. Clean margins. Clean lymph nodes. I’ve spoken to two different sets of doctors who have said I don’t need chemo; and that the risks and damage of chemo outweigh doing it in my case. I start radiation in January. I’m a single mom with two kids, so I’m still nervous that I’m not doing enough. I’d love to hear from others as well.

Hi Eileen. I am in the process now. My lumpectomy was November 8th, and radiation starts December 12. This is the route I chose because the cancer is stage 1, no lymph node involvement, clear margins, and I’m 84 years old. I felt this would give me the best opportunity for a quality life in whatever time is left to me. There is so much to consider when dealing with triple-negative BC. Be cautious. Sending hugs and lifting prayers for you Pink Sister. 🙏

I am told for very small tumors, chemo only has a 5% benefit. Mine was 1 cm, I had chemo

Hi, again, Elaine. At age 51, I was diagnosed with breast cancer with negative hormone receptors in my left breast. It did not present as a lump but rather numerous spots. A lumpectomy was out of the question. It was treated with a modified radical mastectomy with removal of about 20 lymph nodes none of which showed evidence of malignancy. My chemotherapist also said I was more in danger from chemo effects, and referred me to the radiologist who set up several weeks of radiation. He was correct. I’ve been cancer free for 33 wonderful years.. ❤️ What I am going through now is in the right breast and something new, not a metastasis.
