Kisqali For Stage 2?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone else been offered Kisqali or Verzenio with their hormonal therapy without having metastatic BC? If so, did you choose to take it, and how is it going?

I was mentally prepared for either tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor plus ovarian suppression, but wasn't expecting an additional medication. The Kisqali website says that it's for patients with metastatic breast cancer, but Verzenio's site talks about its use for locally advanced cancer. I had one positive lymph node (so small that… read more

Thanks, Sue! You're right, it looks like they are doing trials for non metastatic. I was a little worried that she suspected that my scan next week will show something new, even though I know it's very unlikely.

I'll keep reading and prep some questions for my next meeting with my onco. Have a great week!

But you are not in a trial so it is ok to ask why they decided to use this on you.

Also, ask why this was not explained to you so that you could make a decision yourself whether to do this or not.

It is ok to ask.

Everyone has to put on their Sherlock Holmes hats, ask questions, and do research.

Seriously, it is hard to have a handle on everything at the beginning as everyone is dealing with cancer diagnosis shock.

Please ask any more questions that come up and fill us in about their reply.

Best bet to find this information is to go to Pub Med.

Type in Kisqali studies and look for the one that uses this with AI’s for bin metatastic BC.

I did see some study someplace where it could be used for non metastic BC.
