Deciding between tamoxifen for 10 years or Lupron injections combined with Arimidex can be challenging. Here are some insights based on the knowledge base:

- Tamoxifen:
- Commonly used for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
- Can cause side effects like hot flashes and an increased risk of uterine cancer and blood clots.
- It's important to consult your care team before making any changes to your medication.

- Lupron + Arimidex:
- Lupron is used to suppress ovarian function, often combined with Arimidex, an aromatase inhibitor.
- Aromatase inhibitors like Arimidex can cause muscle and joint pain but do not increase the risk of uterine cancer or blood clots.
- A study showed that both letrozole (another aromatase inhibitor) and anastrozole (Arimidex) are generally well tolerated and do not negatively impact the quality of life.

Thank you for your reply. I just found out that my genetic test puts me at higher risk for endometrial cancers so they might not offer tamoxifen at all and/or recommend a hysterectomy 😩

I am in similar position. Was offered to start with Tamoxifen and after short while, once I tolerate it well to shift to a treatment equivalent to Lupron Injections (overian suppression)+ Arimidex. The reason is that I have eye condition and drugs such as Arimidex might have lower adverse event rate. Also supperstion of ovaries may have benefits if you didn't have chemo. But check with your oncologist of course. This is just one approach tailored to my condition.
