Yes, it is not uncommon to have both.

It seems there might be a misunderstanding in your pathology report. Here's a breakdown based on my knowledge base:

- Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC): This type of breast cancer begins in the lobules and has spread to surrounding tissues. It is considered invasive because it has moved beyond its original site.

- In Situ Show Full Answer

It seems there might be a misunderstanding in your pathology report. Here's a breakdown based on my knowledge base:

- Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC): This type of breast cancer begins in the lobules and has spread to surrounding tissues. It is considered invasive because it has moved beyond its original site.

- In Situ: This term means "in its original position" and refers to cancer that has not spread beyond where it started. For example, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is confined to the ducts and is noninvasive.

- Stage 1: This stage indicates that the cancer is invasive but still in its early stages. The tumor is small, and if lymph nodes are involved, they contain only tiny amounts of cancer cells.

Given this information, it is not possible for a cancer to be both "invasive" and "in situ" simultaneously. You might want to discuss this with your doctor for clarification.
