I got a mastectomy pillow on Amazon cut outs for both arms so you can sleep on your back. A God send for Bilateral Mastectomy

Hi! I really loved my recovery hoodie with interior pockets to hold my drains. I was gifted one and found it much more beneficial than I expected. I had one from Inspired comfort (Amazon) and it was 100% cotton and super soft. Other than that, since I am a side sleeper, the only other thing I needed was extra pillows to surround me at night and keep me from rolling over - I’m a side sleeper, so my body is in the habit of doing that when I sleep. I also had a small pillow in the car for the ride home to cushion against the shoulder belt.

Button up shirts, somewhat oversized to hide the drains. I bought a couple “mastectomy camisoles” but they were expensive and I didn’t use them much so I would say you could skip those. One thing I loved for both mastectomy and reconstruction was a big pillow that covers your whole front and sides, that made me feel protected and helped me sleep on my back. I got it on Amazon. Let me see if I can post a link to it.

Also I liked a little pillow for under the knees to help me sleep on my back, which is hard for me. You could probably use an existing pillow or something rolled up, but for me those didn’t keep me in the right position so I sprung for this:

When I had 3 days to prepare for surgery I panicked thinking I needed all these things. I will say for dressing change and ease of dressing, button up pj shirts were a life saver. Doesn't have to be fancy. You can't comfortably lift your arm too much...so having the button ups make it easy. Plus the remaining breast can stay covered when dressing changes happen.
Pillows..I bought more than I needed. But you'll want pillows to prop you comfortably in bed on your back, and a body pillow or thicker pillow to keep you from rolling over. You won't want to lay on your side for a while.
And a good breast health nurse, or another person who has gone through a mastectomy to help you answer any questions that come up. It sure helped me to have that support system.
