I started at 150 2x a day for the first 4 months I couldn't comfortably leave the house - my GI system was a wreck. Severe stomach cramping, diarrhea. Then there was the extreme fatigue and lots of brain fog. Dose was lowered to 100 2x a day. A little better, the diarrhea lessened and became predictable. The cramping stayed on,sodid the fatigue and brain fog. After nearly a year at 100, the does was dropped to 50 2x a day. Less brain fog, no diarrhea, lots of fatigue, mild stomach cramping. 8 more months until done. I have been getting faslodex shots every 28 days as well.

I would agree. I am a decently sized woman although I am short and if I hadn't been as careful as I was I would have ended up in the hospital with dehydration at least and Lord only knows what else. 300 mgs a day was brutal. I can't even imagine what that would do to a smaller woman. And that's just side effects. I won't even talk about my labs.

I just wonder if they consider weight and grade of cancer. My doctor started me on low lose Gabapentin 100 milligrams and then increased it until the right dose was found. I believe this is the correct way, building it up into our system

There are standard doses suggested by the research and then doctors stray from there to try to make it palatable. Some doctors start at the highest dose and some start at the lowest and go up. It depends, in large part, by the doctor who is hopefully attentive to patient side effects. It is an incredibly effective medication but it is hands down the most brutal medicine I have ever taken and if you remember where I grew up you can imagine what kinds of meds I have taken in my lifetime. I got a shot to prevent Hepatitis B almost every year. I also regularly was given medication to kill parasites and to prevent malaria. I'm glad I persevered but there were times that first year that I was not sure how long I could stand to continue treatment. I find out this week if the lowered dose is still effective for me. I am more than a little frightened I can tell you.
