It again all depends on your stage of cancer hormone receptors etc. I had surgery first then opted for chemo 12 weeks of of taxol with herceptin then the radiation for 21 days then still continued on the herceptin for 1 year every three weeks and then started on the letrozole approx a month after radiation treatment. Finished radiation Aug of 22 started letrozole sept5 of 22 finished herceptin on feb16 of 2023. Your medical oncologist will see what plan of treatment to put you on. Best wishes for you.love hugs and prayers.

Thanks for responding Mona. I should have phrased the question differently. Trying to see if other ILC patients opted for surgery before chemo. I am presently having chemo and sensing more activity in the breast with cancer. I have also read from two reputable sources that the success rate for ILC chemo sessions before surgery are very low. Sending plenty healthy energy your way. πŸ’•

Your oncologist will decide what you would need and what chemo meds. I used a dignicap and didn't lose my hair. Just got slightly thinner on top and straightened. Normally have wavey hair/curly. It may come back. We shall see. Will need 28 sessions of radiation for the lymph nodes under right arm. Will 1st go to my reconstructive surgeon which he will need to fill up.the air pockets with saline. Then go to radiation oncologist for a CT simulation. She will then know exactly where to target the radiation. It will be 5 days per week. Then after that will go on meds. 1 for 2 yrs and the other for 5 yrs. Don't know yet what meds.

For the life of me I can't remember what the test was called. Tissues were sent off from surgery and they wouldn't do anything ,chemo or radiation til that report came back. That's when they told me I wouldn't have chemo just radiation. I'm going back to see what I wrote down. Your medical oncologist should be able to explain the numbers. Bless and many hugs!!
