Wondering How You All Handle Events (concerts, Restaurants, Parties) Or People Wanting To Give Hugs While On Chemo? Thanks In Advance!
About to have 2nd round of chemo.
I didn’t go to any, wore masks and asked people not to hug me.
Cindy, I worked with kiddos with significant cognitive disabilities- and sensory issues are a big part of that. Unfortunately, with the Covid policies, if the kids refused to keep a mask on, they would be unable to attend school, which they would not understand- and would present a huge financial challenge for the parents who would then have to arrange to stay home with them. So, we were very motivated to make this work for our kids. One could not stand the feeling of moisture in the mask- but he managed with a piece that elevated the mask up off his face. They were called Mask Brackets, or Mask Spacers, depending on the maker and design (we got permission to order 3 different kinds to try for him) Maybe that could help? Hugs!
Thanks Renee, my husband is also a very social/extrovert so I try (have always tried even before chemo) to be attuned to his natural needs) I am a "homebody"/introvert and my home is my sanctuary.
Since the shock of my diagnosis, I want to get through treatments ASAP and not risk getting sick. I just got over a bad 2 weeks of bronchitis, and feeling good right now. Ready for next treatment on Tuesday.
I made a decision, yes to small dinner gatherings (3 other couples at most) but no gatherings bigger. Kinda like being back in the COVID days.
@A MyBCTeam Member If your husband goes, he's putting you at risk by getting infected by whatever God awful germs someone has and exposing you to it. Being in close quarters like that puts everyone at risk there. Then it's like a darn chain reaction. It only takes one person. Is it really worth it? Sorry for the doom and gloom speech, but it's our new reality since covid. How lucky we are to have survived! I myself, don't tempt fate. You do whatever is best for you. 🤞🙏🏻🤗
I didn’t goto any social gatherings but wore masks every time I had to go out. I started working 3 weeks after my last chemo and wore masks for another 3 week. Agree with @A MyBCTeam Member - better safe than sorry~
