How Long Did It Take You To Recover From A Double Mastectomy With Reconstruction That Began With Expanders At The Time Of Surgery?
I have heard conflicting information and am trying to determine if it's 1-2 weeks or 4-6 weeks. Thank you in advance for any information you can give,
I took 5 weeks off and was so glad I did. The first two weeks were a little rough for me but after that each day got better. And once the drains come out it really makes a big difference. Take it slow and listen to your body.
Hi Jaime, I’m 12 days out from bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction. The first week was rough but I’m happy to report that my drains are out, had my 1st fill yesterday. It was painless, it felt slightly tight but really no pain at all. I’m back to driving and getting myself ready to start chemo the 1st week of August.
Hugs
I took off 2 weeks but I am a teacher and my first week back was only the teacher work days at the beginning of the year (no kids). This let me ease back into the work schedule and I knew that I could easily leave if needed. Like Melissa836 said the first 2 weeks were the roughest, but it got better quickly after that. I would say the type of job that you have would play a big role in how quickly you can return.
Thank you! You, too!
Awesome! Thank you so much, Ilene3!
