How Do Doctors Decide If You Will Need IV Chemo Or Pills?

It depends on the stage and bio markers. A larger timer, 1 cm or greater for triple negative or Her2+ generally is chemo first. For smaller tumors, sometimes they do surgery first, and then chemo. For invasive, hormone +, tumors 0.5 cm or larger, Onco Type testing is done on the surgical pathology. If it yields a higher number, chemo is recommended since it had a high risk of recurrence.
Oral chemo pills are used for metastatic, and high risk for certain bio markers.
Your doctor should be able to explain this.

If it’s just for chemo, I think some products come in IV forma and other ones in pill form. So it will depend on what you need.
