Does Anyone Know How Many AI Choices We Have. Gone Thru 2 And Cannot Tolerate All The Horrible Side Affects
Tried letrozole then anastrazole....
To my knowledge, there are only three. I'm on Anastrozole and the side effects so far are tolerable. The different drugs affect each person differently. All you can do is try them and see which ones you can tolerate.
Hello!
The Aromatase Inhibitors (for Post-menopausal)-
Three drugs:
Anastrozole (Arimidex),
Letrozole (Femera),
Exemestane (Aromasin)
Also, there is a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM) -Tamoxifen (for those who are pre-menopausal.
Each of us responds differently to these drugs, so IF you have side effects from one of the drugs and you change to a different one, you may not have side effects. There are ways to stop the side effects! Ask on MyBCTeam to get ideas from those of us who have found what works!
I also take the Bonafide Relizen. That one does help.
@A MyBCTeam Member Well all we are probably offered now, are the three just mentioned, as they are the third generation AIs.. I've only been on Letrozole for over two yrs, and take it MY way, which is more often than not, and WILL reduce it again as necessary, just barely hanging on, supposed to take it for several yrs.! I am not gonna try a different one, cause they all do the same D thing, kill our estrogen! I take Letrozoloe two days on, one day off, and also I take grapeseed extract, a natural AI and can help with bones as well.. I take it daily! Best wishes.. hugs and prayers.. <33
Third choice is exemestane. I went from Letrozole to exemestane due to side effects from the first one.
