What Were Your Side Effects From Partial Breast Accelerated External Radiation?
APBI was so easy because it was only for 5 days. I had a very slight "sunburn" that went away about a week after treatment. I did have some fatigue that lasted for a few weeks. I was so thankful that I qualified for APBI and didn't have to go every day for weeks. Best news ever.
Well.. I had 4 years ago and when I ask my oncologist if O am having something example even itchy armpit where lymph node was removed.. it’s oh that’s still from the radiation. It’s during especially the last week of boosts really leaves you tired . Not real bad . I did not have burn issues. Your radiation team should be told immediately if you are having anything..just let them know no matter how trivial.. hugs and prayers sent
Dani. My experience was great. Some fatigue. I had no skin problems but I was very conscientious about using moisturizing cream ( Cera Ve ) and a prescription steroid. Do not use any cream for several hours before radiation. I had some small sample tubes of cream that I used right after the radiation. Also applied cream several times a day. A close friend had severe radiation burns and I wanted to avoid that. Ask your radiation team for samples of recommended creams and quickly report any skin changes/problems. Wishing you a good experience!!
I also had a seroma , small, didn’t need any draining and was pretty much gone on my last mammogram.
Dani. Get a good intensive moisturizing cream with no fragrance. There’s lots of brand name and store brands available
