Anyone Color Their Hair? I’m 3 Months Post Chemo, I’d Like To Color My Hair.

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sanford, ME

My hair is growing back…silver and gray! I’m post chemo 3 months. I’m itching to color it. Any suggestions or advice? Thank you! Btw…I’m a cosmetologist, I use professional products…

It's funny how hairdressers get so appalled when you mention 'box dye' @A MyBCTeam Member, I have been using box dye Revlon Colorsilk all my life. I never would have paid for something I can do myself. Whether my hair is above or below my shoulders I always needed 2 boxes because my hair is thick but at that price, its still good. Since I no longer work or go out too much, I have only dyed it twice in the past year, before it was every 2 months.

Well mine is too about the same time frame…I’m a cosmetologist so I did run two shades of blonde Throught mine and looks great!!! It may not take as well as before YET, but you can color it now if you don’t want to be grey:)

I got the okay from my doctor, you’re correct. I used the same color I’ve been using for years…it looks kinda funky; not bad…but different. Oh well. 🙃

I waited 6 months. But I will tell you that the new hair takes color very differently. I used the same brand & color I had been using for 5+ years - and the results were completely different.

Not sure if it’s permanent. I’ve asked around in my support group and some women said it comes back to the same when the hair is much longer. However, mine is about 2 inches and it’s full of curls and I don’t see this changing. I look completely different. Had long straight blonde hair. Now have short curly dark blond (after coloring it with a natural product). I agree with women who say losing your hair is worse than losing your breasts!
