Is Anyone Taking 1/2 Dose (10 Mg) Of Tamoxifen?

Why does a 200 lb. person take the same dose as a 100 lb. person. The way I see it, either the 100 lb. person is getting too much...or the 200 lb. person is not getting enough. This could also explain why some people have worse side effects than others.

It is strange because many drugs do consider weight

I would think an overweight person would have less severe side effects but I am overweight so ….Anastrozole only comes in one dose of 1 mg

I wondered the same thing when we were all in lines for the original Covid jab. A huge guy- we're talking pro-wrestler size, getting the same dosage as the frail, elderly lady in the wheelchair that looked like a strong breeze could take her down, so was so petite- both getting the same dosage. And yet, when we go to chemo, the drugs (and I realize they are toxic) are based on the current weight?

There are things about dosing on meds that do not seem common sense. But that's me- lol!

The context provided does not mention a 10 mg dose of Tamoxifen. However, it does discuss a study where a lower dose of 5 mg daily was used. Here are some key points from the study:

- Study Participants: 500 women with either stage 0 breast cancer (DCIS) or high-risk lesions
- Dosage: Half of the women took 5 mg of Tamoxi Show Full Answer

- Study Participants: 500 women with either stage 0 breast cancer (DCIS) or high-risk lesions.
- Dosage: Half of the women took 5 mg of Tamoxifen daily for three years, while the other half took a placebo.
- Results: The low-dose Tamoxifen reduced the risk of recurrent or new breast cancer by 52% compared to the placebo.
- Side Effects: The rate of side effects for the low-dose therapy was significantly less than the standard 20 mg dose and similar to the placebo.

For more detailed information, you can refer to the study presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

So, perhaps the AI’s and tamoxifen should be based on weight and other categories but are not.

There are few studies on this and pharmaceutical companies would make less money at lower doses.
