I Found A Small Lump That Felt Like A Grain Of Rice. Dr Said Scar Tissue. It Is Now The Size Of A Half Of Grape And Hurts. Anyone Else?

This is the same breast I had cancer in, and 16 rounds of radiation. My oncologist said it was scar tissue. My surgeon, felt like it was scar tissue. It went from the size of a grain of rice to a half of grape in 3 months and hurts. Oncology radiologist said could be a nerve caught up in scar tissue, or a cyst. I am seeing my surgeon next Thursday. She made the appt in case I was still concerned in July when I saw her. Has anyone else had anything like this?

My whole breast is still real… read more

Update......it turned out to be an infected/blocked/inflamed milk duct. Waiting to see how my Dr is going to treat. Antibiotics I'm sure. If she opts to remove it, I'm going to have them all removed if I can. I must say I feel much better knowing the cancer didn't come back. Thank you Jesus!!

Exactly. 'Probably' isn't good enough. 'Probably isn't an accurate diagnosis.

Peace of mind is important- keep advocating for yourself, when they say- it is probably,,, flip the tables and Ask- how to we prove that you are right, what imaging, tests are we going to schedule to rule out the small likelihood of a different scenario?

Hugs!

Hi Leslie. I have not had that situation but I have had things happen that I didn't feel like my doctors were attentive enough with. I'm glad that your doctor is seeing you for a follow up even if I think making you suffer and worry for a year is ridiculous. I would push for imaging at least and I don't mean a mammogram. I'm not sure what the best imaging would be but I know that's not it. If all they find is a cyst, great, but I would not be relieved with educated guesses either and I seriously doubt anyone who has ever had cancer would be. Your doctor might have to advocate with your insurance company to get coverage but that doesn't mean imaging is the wrong thing to do. I know having to fight when you are scared and hurting really sucks but we are here for you. Please let us know how it goes. Hoping the best for you.
