Just Wondering, I Guess About "survivorship"?
Is it better to think I'm "normal" with aging "symptoms" that are expedited from these meds I'm taking OR that I'm a "survivor" with not-so-severe-side-effects-so-far-so-I-am-thankful? I've finished my active treatment in March'24 and have been on AI since May'24 - interested in what everyone's thoughts are..
I was told that i.have a new normal now. 6 yrs since my Breast cancer. My life has changed but for the better.
We are probably a blend of both- so whatever fits the situation and your mood! Hugs!
Fact is, chemo ages you by 10 to 30 years. I don’t know about other meds and radiation, but I suspect it’s in the same direction. No matter how we look at it, we’re changed and our bodies are damaged. We have to deal with what we have at this moment and be grateful for whatever cards we’ve been dealt. To me, that’s the best way to come to terms with this.
Hello J02. After surgery I felt different and not so normal for a few weeks. Once I got through and done with radiation I felt a total different normal. I had to adjust and there are days when I still feel like I'm climbing a mental mountain. Daily prayers, meditation and exercise has helped me so much. Staying positive is important too.
We ended chemo and started our new medication at the same time. I’m grateful to be here, even if I feel 20 years older 🤣

I Read In My Doctor's Notes That We Would Talk About Survivorship At Next Appointment. First Time I've Heard That Word Used.
