I Was Diagnosed With Invasive Lobular Cancer And Have Had 2 Surgeries. Nothing Really Hurts Except The Lymph Node Area. Is This Normal?
Totally normal. I just had my lumpectomy on 12/11/24 and my pain and swelling is more at the SNL site. Just had my follow up and she offered to drain the swelling, but since no risk of infection, I opted to not have another needle stuck in my boob.
And the sentinel node removal scar is thicker than the lumpectomy scar.
Very normal. No worries. Just try really hard not to over use that arm as well.
You'll be okay but it takes a little while. I think we as women do far too much even after surgery. REST, relax. Let your family and friends take care of you! KEEP US POSTED ON HOW YOURE DOING!!! Hugs!!!
Often the area where the lymph nodes were removed is more sensitive than the surgical site. Try a very small pillow or folded towel under your arm, to reduce the amount of pressure and friction on the site. OTC pain meds and an ice pack were my friends- especially if I fell asleep and woke up after the meds wore off. The ice packs helped bridge the gap until the next dose kicked in! Gentle hugs, it may take a few days before you can tell it really is getting better!
Glad to know I'm not making medical news. My breast area hasn't hurt at all. There's still an area that's swollen under my nipple but as long as I don't press on it, I'm fine. Thanks for letting me know I'm normal! 😉
