I'm Scheduled For A Single Mastectomy. I'm Told Can't Lift For 2 Weeks Will Have Drains. Feeling Anxious & Scared. How Soon Can I Go Outside
I had an apron that tied around my waist with two pockets to hold the drains. You wear it under your clothes. The hospital provided them, they were made of a light mesh so that I could wear in the shower as well. A waitress or carpenter's apron would work too.
Bilateral mastectomy in 2019. I left with 4 drains. They told me to walk short distances multiple times a day, just don’t over do it. I walked slow and soaked up some sun. It helped alot.
When I left the hospital I had the mesh aprons, and a bra with detachable (Velcro) drain pockets- I liked the apron better though. The bra could also be used for the light-weight foam prosthetic- so it was good for that.
@A MyBCTeam Member I did get one shirt with the pockets for the drain just to wear when going out, but even then I just put a big sweater over it and no one can tell.

All the things Barbara lists are good ideas.
Just be careful when you “strip ” or drain the drains. I was in our powder room and one bulb dripped to the floor. I panicked but it was ok.
I had to have mine remain in anfew days longer due to complications of my own🤷
Everything will be ok just take it easy overall.
