What Can I Do For Fatigue And Constant Pain Across My Chest?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since treatment I am not able to sleep very well and I never wake up rested. I have tried all kinds of sleeping aids and I just don't have the energy anymore. I still get up everyday and go to work and keep plugging along like I did before but I wish I just felt better. I also have limited range of motion and have constantly in pain across my chest...

Try sleeping with wedges or pillows under one side. I did this after my bilateral mastectomies. It made me feel like I was sleeping on my side but I wasn't. Also put a pillow between your legs to help relieve pressure from your lower back.

There are products you can get at the drugstore for scar management which soften your scar tissue so it doesn't dry out and pull your skin so tight. Also find a physical therapist who can help you with range of motion. Big time help for me. I survived ovarian cancer and treatment 13 years ago and the tired doesn't completely go away. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years after my recovery. Now I am in chemo again for breast cancer and am having the same issues. The tired goes away after so long, and is better if you exercise, i.e. walking. If nothing else, maybe a talk with your family doctor can give you a little relief. I also have trouble sleeping after this double mastectomy; I find I can sleep in my bed 3-4 hours, then switch in the middle of the night to our couch or recliner and feel rested. Pillow between knees for sure, and I like the wedge pillow idea also!

I am 5 years out and still sleep with a pillow on each side and one for my head, drives my husband crazy, but I can't sleep without all my pillows.

Medical Marijuana! Check out Web MD I put in Chronic Pain, However I am sure either would work. Talk about being crazy like a fox. Now I sleep for more than 3 hours; The Methadone lasts 3 plus hours. However I am not able to take too much pain meds for my brain was injuried and I developed Central Mixed Apnea Have CPAP machine. I still am on a strong dose of narcotics/.My doctor wean me down by using Tylenol and Lidocain patches and a Trochter Belt for my Pelvic Instability.
