Does Anyone Have LCIS...is This Just A Marker For Breast Cancer
I was diagnosed with LCIS in July of 2010. In November of that year, I had a bilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. I just had another surgery this week to correct the breasts for size - the left breast was too big. Now I am a perfect 36C on both sides. I could not live wondering when the LCIS would go invasive. My new breasts are the result of diep flap and they are perfect (and so is my tummy tuck that was the result of the diep flap).
Hi Karen, browse the "meet others" tab at the top of the page. You can search for other women with LCIS, there. www.mybcteam.com/people
I had both in one breast.
Karen, I didn't mark it in my diagnosis (becuase I didn't see it"), but I had LCIS with DCIS in my left breast; my LCIS was premalignant. An individual with LCIS has a higher risk of getting breast cancer. With this higher risk, my doctor and I agreed that it would be beneficial if I had my other breast removed to cut down that risk.
LCIS stands for lobular carcinoma in situ. Usually it's stage 0 or stage 1. It means it's detected early. Lobular cancers have a long shape instead of the usual roundish shapes you find in most cancers. DCIS is ductal carcinoma in situ, meaning the roundish shape. Both cancers are contained and very rarely are any lymph nodes involved. When the cancer has gone beyond the ducts, it's called Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Hope that answer helps.
