I have taken Letrozole for 2 years, 3 more to go. Weight gain has been one of the biggest problems. I try to be active but my joints hurt so much it's hard. Taking this one day at a time.

My weight seems to have plateaued, altho higher than I would like. Now I have developed joint and muscle pain, I assume from the femara. I am doing water aerobics daily-is supposed to help with the lymphedema in addition to the joint issue. If I sit or lay for any period of time, is very hard to move around. I feel like an 80 year old woman trapped in a 60 year old body. AM trying to decide if I should start taking Aleve daily to stay on top of that.

@A MyBCTeam Member. My weight has not changed in years, nor has my pain level and yet in the last several weeks I have developed increased joint and muscle pain. So I beg to differ with you that it is all caused by increased weight gain. I read a study on PubMed yesterday that there is now researched evidence that AI's cause joint and muscle pain. It was called AIA or AI induced Arthralgia.

I have been think much along the same ines as you ReneeSis. It is hard to justify taking something that makes you feel crappy without signicant evidence that it is truly keeping you cancer free. I also just started cramping and spotting so have to have vaginal ultrasound Mon., plus my liver enzymes are up. I'm taking it one day at a time and am grateful, never the less, that I have so much easier a time than so many others. Let me know if you find out any more stats etc.

Because of the pain from the femara, I am reconsidering whether I want to keep taking this drug. I cannot imagine 5 years of this. I need to look more closely at the statistics; at some point, quality of life has to be weighed against survival time!! Mostly because I cannot sleep through the night-no matter which position I am in, the hip pain wakes me up. Prolonged sleep depravation is not good. I don't have energy to live normally.
