Breast Cancer Connection To Lack Of Iodine
I'm being told by naturopath oncologist that there's a strong connection between inadequate iodine consumption and breast cancer. Is anybody knowledgeable on this subject?
@A MyBCTeam Member...I actually have heard of the connection. I was diagnosed with my breast cancer in 2008, and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 2010, but I had been experiencing hypothyroidism many years prior to my breast cancer diagnosis. I spent a lot of money at the doctors office complaining of the same issues time and time again...only to be sent away with meds for sinus infections (yeah, I know...what do they know. LOL) After many "inconclusive" thyroid biopsies they decided to "go in" and take a look at my thyroid to see what was going on, and found the Hashimoto's.
search amazon for iodine. there is a book you can buy that explains it. basically, there is a link between thyroid issues and breast cancer. some believe that all americans are deficient still in iodine (historically this is why they added it to salt). If our bodies are deficient, there is a ranking of use...thyroid first then breast. this is just a laypersons understanding. My wholistic doctor wants me to take it. My endochronologist is concerned that it will give me hypo or hyper thyroidism. you should read the book and decide for yourself.
I don't know. I would take what the ND prescribes (if you decide to) but monitor closely your levels of thyroid hormones to make sure it is not impacting you hypothyroid condition.
I had my thyroid taken out 5 years ago and now BC. I believe there may be a connection...
@A MyBCTeam Member, please explain to me what you mean by hormone replacement dose. I'm on 1 gr. Armour thyroid/day.
