How Long After Exchange Surgery Does It Take To Feel (sort Of) Normal Again?
I'm three months out and while it's no longer painful, it still feels like I have two potatoes duct taped to my chest.
I am 2 1/2 years past the exchange surgery. I think it took well over a year not to feel aware of the implants almost constantly. Gradually over these 18 or so months, it has gotten better and better - less like I am always wearing a too-tight bra, and more natural. There is more movement, in a natural way, and the tightness is less - or at least I am more accustomed to it. I think they will always be unlike the real things - but to me, so much better than prostheses!
Does the exchange surgery feel much like the original surgery for the tissue expanders?
I had my exchange surgery a year and half ago. My implants are in pockets in my chest muscle. I'm still waiting to feel normal, but I think this is the "new" normal.
I had exchange surgery 16 mos ago I didn't feel normal until I had nipple recon 8 mos ago I look good now and I feel better
I love your comparison! I always said it felt like a softball on my chest. It is now almost six months out and they have drooped (and not badly), they also can be lifted and moved around. But sadly they still feel weird and I think they always will. Oh well what can you do?
