Is Anyone Taking Kadcyla & Herceptin Treatments And If So What Has Been Your Side Effects?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have taken 2 treatments of this and I have had 2 UTI's and now I have numbness in my left thigh, with burning and sharp pains in the same area. Just wondering, everyone on another site talking like they haven't had any side effects from, like it's a walk in the park. I know that we are all different and what effects one, may not effect someone else in the same way...but I'm still very curious about it..

I have done 2 treatments, also. My numbers have dropped from 748 to 447. YEAH! Only negative--my family has a history of low platelets and this treatment seriously affects that part of the blood. In stead of my treatments being 3 weeks apart, it has been 6 weeks since my 2nd treatment because even after a platelet transfusion my platelets would not get high enough. And of course, when my platelets get high enough---I get a cough, cold, runny nose, no voice, etc. As a precaution chemo gets postponed until my body can handle it better. Maybe mid-next week.

FYI - platelets from a transfusion normally live 4 to 7 and rarely 10 days. Platelet counts increase normally about 10% daily. Some die as a natural part of their life cycle.

Kadcyla also knocked my platelets down. ONC sent me for a platelet transfusion because even a week after my chemo of this drug my platelet count stayed below 10!!. So now I am having to get the lab blood work done every few days, with the hope of getting it high enough within the next 2 weeks to have another treatment using this drug. There is a possibility of having several more transfusions within the next two weeks.

Thanks ladies...I took Herceptin for years also...I'm taking a combination of Herceptin & kadcyla, that's what I was wondering about. I went in Monday for treatment and it has knocked my platelets down so low that I could not take a treatment of this combination. But I did take a treatment of perjeta and Herceptin Monday

To all the ladies, who have been on Kadcyla and low Platetes.
I started that treatment last March I noticed by August my platelets started going down and September 19 I had my last Kadcyla treatment . My platelets got to a point where I went nine weeks without any kind of treatment plus my liver enzymes were high with a fatty liver and a spleen that’s in large so now I have to go to a G.I. doctor. So I can totally relate to what you’re all going through. It does knock your platelets down quite a bit for those of you who’ve had a platelet infusion. Can you tell me what it was like and how you felt during the process and if you had any reactions to the infusion of platelets
