Anyone Get Immediate Silicone Implants And Then Do Radiation?
Opted for immediate silicone implants during my double masectomy because all doctors agrees that it did not seem like I would require radiation. Ended up with lymph nodes that tested positive, so now my team wants radiation (after chemo) and I am concerned on how this will effect my implants.
I just finished my radiation and I too had immediate implant.. so far this are ok..I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get a contracture..
I am glad to see 2 other brave ladies who had implants before radiation. zi am going to have to remove my present implants to go back for better margins in a 2nd llumpectomy and want new implants put in at same surgery. I assume if asnything happens to implant during radiation they can fix it after . Fingers crossed nothing happens to any of us!!!
I did. I have not had radiation yet and I am to start chemo in a couple of weeks. I had one node with a "micro lesion" so they say I will need radiation...at least in my arm pit area. The reconstructive surgeon brought this issue up AFTER I made the immediate implant decision which made me crazy. I consulted with the radiologist and the reconstructive surgeon gave me "low profile" implants in case I need radiation because they said they said they could direct the beam on an angle from either side that way. Also, they said my chest wall was pretty round so that helps with the radiation on an angle idea. I guess I will find out!

Since My Recontruction Did Not Go As Planned,I Do Have Implants But I Find Them Very Uncomfortable.
Has Anyone Had Immediate Reconstruction With Silicone Implants ( No Expands )?
