Venlafaxine (Effexor) is a mild anti-depressant also used to combat hot flashes. My hot flashes were unbearable. Effexor saved my sanity! ASK FOR IT!!

You can have your oncologist prescribed Venlafaxine and it will help control your hot flashes.

@A MyBCTeam Member you will do fine. TruLy it is mind over matter. Chemo sucks, I think just about everyone will agree. But it not permanent. It will end and in the meantime help cure your cancer. Be prepard to be tired and maybe a little sick. Some women don't have any side effects, you may be one of them! Good luck with the chemo. Keep me updated on how u are doing. Are you on any hormone treatments now? If so that would cause the hot flashes. If not they may be caused by stress and anxiety. I hate to say this but they will only get worse when on chemo. At least mine did. I'm on my third trip thru menopause. At 43 y/o chemo induced, then Natural menopause and now at age 58 I'm there once again with chemically induce hormone treatment ! Lol.
