For all of you ..if you had any lymph node involvement at all you will have full body PET SCANS about every 3 months.
Injection of radio active sugar water ,that will go through
Your body making all if any cancer light up when done. The
Lymph system is a super highway that travels throughout your body. CANCER can metastasize to other area.Brain, lungs liver, chest walls etc. These test are important because cancer just goes and hides.I am a stage 4 metastatic BC patient. I will be on chemo for the rest of my life. But
Don't ever think you Don't need to be closely watched..Hugs

After a bilateral mastectomy there is nothing left to mammogram. In fact, by tradition I always had mine around 5/12 (my wed. anniv.) and this is the first year in 18 that I haven't gotten a reminder to come in for the annual squeeze.

Yes, & the reason is because you still have have "breast" tissue EVEN though you've had a complete mastectomy.

I have practically ruined the last few days brooding over this. I'm going tomorrow and see what happens. It seemed my oncologist wasn't even listening to me when I questioned how they would do a mammogram. I know after more than a year of this hell, my patience has run out! I'll let you guys know what happens.

If anyone has any question about their implants and symptoms of toxicity, I can recommend a book called The Naked Truth About Breast Implants From Harm to Healing. by Dr. Susan Kolb. I started having symptoms three years after reconstruction and didn't recognize what was happening. Not until I was horribly ill did I connect the dots. None of my doctors did. It was frightening. My internet research led me to Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, Ga. and thank heavens...for many years I had multiple symptoms that were being treated, although the underlying reason of illness was the implants. I was so sad and frustrated to think that I had beat the cancer and would meet my demise by the implants. ugh. Now that I have explanted and detoxed my body, I am so much better. Implant toxicity is not well received in the plastic surgeon communities. It never would have occurred to me that I would be grateful for my breast cancer...but with the illness associated with my reconstruction, insurance is mandated to cover any and all reconstruction issues. The women who have problems with implants for aesthetic reasons ...are all on their own.
