Has anyone lost hair due to tamoxifen? Does it slow down? I have only been on it a week and I am losing alot of hair. Am I going to bald??

@A MyBCTeam Member my doctor fought me at the suggestion that Tamoxifen was causing the leg cramps. We played with various drug combinations. I take iron, D3, E, folic acid, and magnesium. You should have your doc check your magnesuim and potassium levels before changing anything. Also, my leg cramps are ties to how much fluids I drink each day. I usually drink at least 64 oz a day.

I've been on almost every hormone blocker out there, currently taking Femara, but have had hair loss with all of them. Not total hair loss but it is very thin. I agree with the others who have cut their hair short, it seems to be less noticeable. Talk to your stylist and get her opinion on what style would look good on you and make it less noticeable on you. The worst side effect for me has been the bone and joint pain.

I have been on Letrozole for about a year after a short stint on Armidex (that caused bad neuropathy). Doing well on the Letrozole but do have some increased bone and joint pain so I try to keep up stretching and light weight excercises and that helps a lot. Would like to try yoga (did years ago) but am not ready for that - may never be at 64 :-) . I have had some hair thinning and breakage, but also my hair has grown grey in that time. I always have had very thick hair, so the loss isn't too bad. I cut it short, wash it less often and use coconut and Argan oil and just work it through with my fingers (avoiding a lot of brushing) and this really helps keeping my hair soft and full and the thinning is much less now. (If I rub a little purple food coloring in with the oil it helps keep the brassiness away too! - but wear gloves if you do that or you'll have blue fingernails ;-) . My last suggestion is keep up with vitamin E for hair, skin and nails and D3, calcium and potassium for bones and joints.

I was on Arimidex for about 3.5 years. Currently I've been taking Tamoxifen for nearly 3 month. I've been experiencing hair thinning all these years, but I still have hair. :) But I feel sad every time I wash or brush my hair! I know it's scary but I don't think you will be bald. Hugs!

I was taking Tamoxifen after radiation (no chemo) and I never noticed any hair thinning issues. I did have horrible leg cramps. Now on Femara, and still no hair thinning issues, leg cramps are much better, but I so have some joint pain - especially in the morning. Glucosamine seems to help a little bit.
