Wondering If It's The Radiation Causing The Fatigue Or Tamoxifen?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just started taking Tamoxifen a week ago now and just the last three days fatigue kicked in and not much energy. Wondering if I am having side effects from radiation which I just finished two weeks ago?

Like someone else said keep moving! That was my trick through 38 rounds of radiation and now on month 4 of tamoxifen. I only ache when I don't move. Even if it's 2 laps around the Neighboorhood :). Good luck. You can do it!

Absolutely mention it. If you are beginning to have any symptoms of any of the side effects you should mention it. Bone pain can mean low bone density which is osteoporosis, which is very serious. It can be treated or prevented if they know about it.

I find that staying hydrated helps the fatigue. I was tired all thru 8 weeks of radiation- had both breasts done at the same time. Now on Exemestane instead of Tamoxifen because chances of blood clots are less, but I have pretty much all the side effects listed. Again staying hydrated helps the fatigue. Haven't found anything to help with the other side effects: muscle ache, anxiety, hot flashes, sweating, light headed, some hair loss.

@A MyBCTeam Member - I stopped taking hormone therapy 6/23/14 after almost 3 yrs. Still tired on some days but pain and numbness have eased greatly. My attitude has also gotten to be much more positive. It's a decision that took many months to decide with a lot of research. You know your body better than anyone. Good Luck
