Showering Post BMX ~ Anyone Use Saran Wrap To Cover Drain Incisions??
I had my BMX Thursday and I am ITCHING to shower one week later. My PS removed 2 of 4 drains (so 2 still remaining) and gave me the all clear to shower WITH saran wrap covering the drain incisions. I have "lower body bathed" , used baby wipes, cleansing clothes and my husband has washed what little fuzz is on my head
I received a wonderful gift- post Mastectomy kit from Necessities.org which included a ribbon for tying up the drains while showering.
Wondering if anyone has additional… read more
I showered normally too. My Dr. Said it was okay to get wet, just don't lay in the tub. Get in, do
Your business & get out. I dried off really well. A shower felt so wonderful. I just remember feeling so weak):
I was able to shower normally with my drains. I used a ribbon tied around my neck & through the drains to keep them out of the way.
I was allowed to shower the next day as my PS had the stiches on the inside and surgical glue on the outside. I had heard about hooking the drain tubes to a lanyard around my neck. The only thing they said was do not really wash around the surgery area; wah your neck and shoulders and just let the soap run down from there over the surgery site, then wash from below it onwards! Good luck!
It's interesting how every surgeon has a different protocol. Mine told me I could shower 48 hours after my BMX, no dressings, no wraps, nothing to cover any incision or drain entries. It was July and let so good. I hung my drain bags from a lanyard around my neck and air dried in the bathroom afterwards.
Hi - glad you at least two of them out - sounds like you are doing well. I used the wrap that is sticky on both sides - cannot remember the name of it. It stayed on better when I took a shower.
