Fat Grafting

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Oshkosh, WI

Just a had fat grafting done today. The first of 2 or 3. Sore and bruised but feeling ok. No compression girdle. I have read that sometimes the fat does not take or it dies. Has anyone had this happen? How do you know and what do they do about it? Is it another surgery to remove the dead fat?
I swear I find something new to worry about every day

I had fat grafting done in February of this year. It didn't take. The fat doesn't need to be removed as it resorbs. I don't think I would ever put myself through that surgery again. For me it was ridiculously painful.

Fat grafts can cause oil cysts which are removed.

The fat graft (stem cell grafting) didn't take (unable to create its own blood supply).

@A MyBCTeam Member wow 2 lbs That's great! My PS is limited by insurance company as to how much he can do at one time otherwise insurance companies won't pay. So therefore I will need several. I had to have both original expanders removed from infection. They were replaced after all chemo and then had exchange. So fat grafting is done to even out the strange shape from so long without them. My belly is swollen bruised and sore too.
