I started treatment with faslodex and Xgeva What has been your experience? Would you add tamoxifen to this? Keep in mind I'm not menopausal.

@A MyBCTeam Member, it's my understanding that falsodex works a little differently than Tamoxafin ( locks up receptors on cancer cells so they cannot receive circulating estrogen) and Aromatase inhibitors like Arimidex ( hampers the conversion of androgens ((from adrenals and fat)) into estrogen). Falsodex degrades the receptors on the cancer cells, rendering them useless. In a way it's action seems closer to Tamoxafin, although Tam is used for premeno gals where Fals is used for post meno, like the AI's. In a study that is recognised as having merit in spite of having been funded by the manufacturer, evidence is coming in that it's use is superior to AI's for post meno local and distant mets. Probably your Onco thought well to switch out your AI in favor of Fals because of these recent findings. Here's the study:

Curious, I thought the faslodex was supposed to work on the hormone receptors and my oncologist took me off the hormone suppressant when I started faslodex. For me no real reaction to the shots, depends which nurse gives them thought. Sometimes lower back and hips are stiff and sore, but not debilitating.

Good morning, Cindy! So, can I presume you've had your ovaries ablated since you're on falsodex? Xgeva seems warranted with your young age, stage and AI use. Tamoxafin concurrent? Thst I don't know. Here's a link from NIH that might shed some light and steer you in the right direction for YOU:

I hope this helps!
