Has Anyone Thought Of This? Real Breast Shaped Implants For Recon
I wonder if there are implants shaped like actual breasts to use in reconstruction surgeries. Most of us that have had mastectomy especially, no longer have nipple. They should make implants that make up for that lack of extra tissue so we don't have flat spots where our nipples used to be. Thoughts?
They won't do a reconstruction on me because of radiation messing up my skin. My skin looks perfect to me, but they say they won't do reconstruction because I have AFIb and they can't keep me off blood thinners for that long of a time. Yet they want to do a scar revision but I will have to be off blood thinners for that as well. I know they can do a reconstruction in segments so I don't buy there reasoning.
i had a tummy tuck ! my tummy fat they made everything !
I am having surgery again in December and my PS is recreating my nipples. He will skin graft the area between my legs more toward my buttocks area and the way he explained it he goes in up under and it will be like three pronged underneath to make it look natural and then use the skin he grafted for the areolas since the skin will be a few shades darker. He said they look very natural when the process is complete. Another alternative if your nipple don't hold is taking tissue from the inside of your ear to create the actual nipple. I had to wait about 3 months after I got my implants to let them form before this next surgery coming up
I have the gummy implants, and although most of the area looks normal, the nipple part is kind of flat, and lack of tissue there is what makes it that way. What I have in mind is not so much an erect nipple, but a projection that looks natural in the areola space. It keeps me from going braless, if the shirt I'm wearing would reveal the flat part. Then I wear a lightly padded bra to round them out. Oh, how I miss my nipples!!
Interesting! As mentioned, there IS the tear drop option. The nipple idea as part of the implant is intriguing...I guess my only concern would be that the skin might move over the projection a bit ( think of moving fabric over a stationary nip). I suppose that might only be a problem if one has a nip tattoo.
I've long wondered why there aren't implants specific to recon. Lord knows there's enough of us to make it financially worthwhile to the manufactures. I particularly dislike how they tend to look flattish across the face of them. I believe the implants are constructed keeping in mind that even the smallest cup woman has a fat layer that fills the projection of the foob, where our thin skin does nothing to round out the profile...like permanent "tight tee shirt-no-bra" boobs.
Yours is valid question and somebody better get on it ( probably making a killing while they're at it) !
