Has Anyone Experienced High Prices With Xeloda And Tykerb?

My oncologist wants to move my treatment to Xeloda and Tykerb. I am stage 4 and nothing to this point has really worked. So she wants to try these drugs. My insurance company AARP (United Healthcare) told me Xeloda is not covered and would cost me around $8000 per month. Tykerb is covered but is an additional $2000 per month. Is anyone on these drugs and how are you paying for them? Any help would be appreciated.

I got help with Xeloda when I wad on it... free... otherwise 1500 dollars.. they bill insurance company not the Medicare part D because it was Oral Chemo... now I'm on Ibrance and Falsodex, no copay, one is billed through regular insurance and the other is through a program and free, otherwise 2000 dollar copay... unreal. I was drug free for almost 4 mths. Xeloda helped but side effects got bad in November but since it did it's job, he gave me time off everything, Thank the Lord I was doing okay except for bad colds and bronchitis, took antibiotics twice... hubby got sick in November, passed away in February. . Unreal.. it will be 2 mths the 18th. My daughter and family were here in Feb. Now she came back for a week with our 4.5 yr old grandson.. finally feel like I'm getting settled 8n our apt, will be 5 mths, again unreal Tom really never got to enjoy it... now I have a bad left leg, overdid it when I was feeling so good.... Prayers that it gets better, going for PT on Monday. Hugs, and prayers for all of us...

Yea there are organizations that will pay your copays if your income is under a certain amount! Your onco office should help you. Patient Access Network is one. I took Xeloda and paid no copay because they paid it. I'm on Ibrance now which was over 122,000 dollars last year It is close to $900 a pill. I paid nothing. Depending on your income the American Cancer Assos. will help. I wish you luck. Is the Xeloda working for you? Marty
