What Did You Wear After Mastectomy?
I'm having a bilateral mastectomy in 10 days with an implant put in in the left side and a tissue expander on the right side. Just wondering what y'all wore for bras and tops afterwards while healing.
Thanks ladies 💗
The shop at the hospital hooked me up with some special front closure (zippered) camisoles that had pockets to hold the drains. They were so comfy. The shop also did the contacting and filing with the insurance company to get them covered too. As far as clothes, button-up tops and pull on pants and shorts.
Sports bras that had hooks up the front after having the drain tubes out. Loose, comfy clothing. For right after surgery I purchased a camisole made specifically for MX from TLC.com It has pockets for the drains...very convenient.. Good luck with your surgeries. Can I suggest meditation if you don't already meditate. It was life changing for me. There are some great, free ones online. It really helped me to get out of my head and to slow down the onslaught of chatter in my head. Keeping you in my thoughts...
Op went well. Almost two weeks out now and I'm still pretty sore and still have the drains. Feeling good with how things are going. Sooo looking forward to feeling better and having the drains out so I can get back to doing stuff :)
I had a unilateral mastectomy and immediate implants. I couldn't reach my clothes after the op cos they were too high on the shelf and i couldn't lift my arms up. I wore a really tight compression bra that i got from my ps. It was very tight but made me feel comfortable and safe. Very loose long tops and easy to wear soft clothes. Also you will need loads of pillows and cushions for sleeping and laying down. Good luck
I was wrapped in a 6" Ace bandage until my drains came out. my doc told me to use a sports bra after the ace came off.
