Hi Paula. Wishing you the best for your surgery! I bought a few cheap shirts off Amazon. They were advertised as post-mastectomy shirts. They were short-sleaved and cotton, buttoning up the front and had pockets inside where you can tuck your drains. They were poorly made so I'm not sure they were worth the money. I had my drains longer than most people and it is handy to have some place to put them, though right after surgery I didn't have much desire to go out of the house so I didn't care a lot about how I looked. Having some tops that button up the front (instead of over-the-head like a t-shirt) is helpful if you end up having arm pain. Some women have trouble lifting their arms for awhile if lymph nodes are take from the under arm. I didn't have this problem but was prepared. Really, I think a person could get by with a shirt, snap or zip up sweatshirt (if you need something warmer) or a housecoat with good sized pockets. My hospital discharged me wrapped in a post-surgical bra so you don't need to worry about getting something like that. Let me know if you have any other questions. There's also some YouTube videos women have made on what you need which is what helped me, though I didn't need all the things they listed.

I didn’t have that done. However I did have a lumpectomy. I wore sport bra n regular clothes.
