I've Been Done With Chemo For Over 2 Years Now, But I Feel That I Catch Everything That Comes Down The Pike.
My husband is convinced that the chemo has killed my immune system. Thoughts? Does anyone else constantly get sick? I'm taking tons of vitamins, eating right, getting the flu shot, etc., but everything I catch hits me doubly hard.
I finished chemo in March 2017, and I have also noticed that I seem to be getting sick a lot more in the last year, and having trouble getting over things when I do get sick. Nothing serious, though; and I also have more frequent runny noses. I did take Neulasta. I guess chemo affects the immune system for longer than we thought.
My nose runs all the time when I am outside. It can be warm outside. Maybe I have allergies now.
I don’t seem to get sick any more often than before chemo but when I do catch something I seem to get it really bad.
I'm probably jinxing it now, but I keep saying that my $20k investments in the neulasta shots have paid off. Haven't been sick since finishing chemo 10/31/16.
I also had Neulasta (side effects were awful). I also work in a school, so all those little germs with sneakers are roaming around! I keep taking my vitamins, exercising as I can and trying to eat healthier. I'm convinced that chemo wrecks more than just cancer cells for a long time. I am still having issues with discolored and ridged toenails ~ ugh! Take care of yourself as well!
