Now that it is open season for Medicare I am receiving lots of info. I currently have original Medicare with an AARP supplement F plan. My husband has the N plan. I think we pay a little over 300 a month for it plus whatever our Part B and D costs. I know Advantage plans are cheaper and also other benefits like Dental and Vision. I have had my AARP F plan for 3 years and it covered every penny of my cancer treatment, 7 surgeries and a lot of other specialists. Does anyone know if I switch to… read more

@A MyBCTeam Member When you first sign up for Medicare there is a 6 month window where they have to accept you. I think it is 3 months before your 65 th birthday and 3 months after. This is only for the Supplemental plans, not normal Medicare. Normal Medicare Part A is free and covers Hospitals if you are admitted. Part B goes up every year and I pay $134 a month and it covers 80% of your doctors, labs, scans, etc. Supplemental plans cover the other 20%. I pay $200 for the supplement F plan which covers everything. Some of the other supplement plans have copays or deductibles but are cheaper. So it is only the supplement plans that they make you go through underwriting if you are past the initial coverage period. They are allowed to charge you more if you have medical conditions. That is why I probably will not give mine up because in the future if aI wanted to get it back they could deny me or charge me a ton because I am high risk

Medicare Advantage plans do not require medical underwriting. But your supplemental does, so if you leave it - you will not be able to get it back. What you have is the best for people that not well.

I am kind of afraid to switch to another plan. I have the F supplement now that I got 11 months before I was dx'd with cancer. I have tons of pre existing conditions.

Dental benefits are not that good on Medicare advantage plans. Very limited and agents tell perspective clients very little about what they are entitled to. Manage a dental office and see a lot of wrong information
