Pain At Incision Of Lymph Node Dissection
Hi, my name is Cathy, I am 42 years old, and I am new here. I was diagnosed in late October and had bilateral mastectomy with partial reconstruction and sentinel node dissection on both sides. I have tissue expanders in and still in a good deal of pain even though it's been almost 4 weeks since surgery. I had double in march and my lymph node incision (one side only) caused the most discomfort I have oncology massages which really helped, the lady taught me how to massage area myself which really helps
What is an oncology massage? Is it from a PA?
I have oncology massages also they have been a life saver for me !
I had a double mastectomy last March. I still have pain, numbness and tightness. I've been in PT since Sept and it has really helped. I'm still going to PT and knowing that soon I'll have to live with some of the pain. It's a long process. Find a good OT or PT who has experience with this. I fear that too many women just live with the pain and tightness and aren't aware of how much PT helps.
hi Cathy, I have very similar diagnosis as you have. I am 3 weeks out from bilateral masectomy with right side sentinel node dissection on both sides. I have tissue expanders in and still in a good deal of pain. The incision on my right side where they took the lymph nodes hurts a lot. I will be getting my first fill next Friday and many women have told me to stay on top of it with advil/aleve prior to fill, so that is my plan. I am still having trouble getting comfortable to sleep . However , it is getting a little bit more tolerable since I bought a body pillow. good luck on 9 jan. I am sending you many prayers.
