Has Anyone Had An Oophorectomy For Er+ Breast Cancer
I am considering an oophorectomy instead of the monthly zoladex injections since the cancer was 95% ER and PR positive.I am 41 years old and wondering what I will feel like afterwards I have read articles but I want to know from personal experience. (Side effects)
I was 43 when diagnosed. Er pr positive 95%. My onc told me to have oopherectomy at the time of my mastectomy and then take an AI. I chose to keep my ovaries and skip the AI also.
I had a full hysterectomy! I am 64! I was post menopausal on Tamoxifen ! My oncologist and ogbyn specialist helped me decide to have it all removed! No more pressure bleeding worryπππ
I am also considering this. I was recovering from a hysterectomy when I was diagnosed with ER+ BC. My overies were left in. I am 49 and not sure what to do yet. I will be done with herceptin/perjeta at the end of August, so I have time to look at my options. Thank you for this question and thread.
yes my doctor wanted ovaries out -kept uterus. His reccomendtion because he said that estrogen can still emit even with the shot. He did not want me to wait until summer either. I have been about a year now without ovaries and the first 6months were ok. The surgery itself is pretty easy. Its uncomfortable but not painful. A little gas pain too. I could've gone back to work after the 3rd day. But I took a week and a half off.
@A MyBCTeam Member I finished chemo in October of 2017 and finished Herceptin in August of 2018.
