There are different tumor marker tests used, some are blood tests, some are urine tests. Any can give false positives (or negatives), and they can fluctuate (as you already know). As you have already figured out, this battle doesn't end, but we do move from actively fighting, to a state of vigilance. Stress can affect your immune system, so as hard as it is- try to remind yourself that you are doing everything you can to minimize risk and then do something fun. If we live waiting and watching numbers go up and down, we will drive ourselves crazy. If women are getting good results with their scans then that should be enough. Scans see things. Numbers can be off for other reasons. Don't live by numbers.

I feel you! I am just over a yr post op, and my ca 15.3 was slightly elevated, since all treatment has been complete, then last time, both when up just a little, though the 15.3 was at beginning diagnosis ,it was 40.6, then it went down a little to 34, then a tiny amt down to 32, then this last time, jumped back up to 39, the ca 27.29 was 28 right after surgery, recently jumped up to 44.. then my oncologist had me do full body nucleaur bone scan, PLUS CT of chest, abdomen, and pelvis, everything came back 100 percent free, showing no metastatic disease.. the doctor never called me back and that was a couple wks ago.. I did finally get to talk to a nurse.. she said o no evidence of disease..that's great.. But I have been studying online, and i read the rise could very possibly mean that in 5 to 9 months or maybe even less or more.. recurrence could finally show up, so I hav been praying that these stupid markers will go and stay WAY DOWN.. You get so sick of all this don't you, that even after torterous treatment, the battle never ends.. HANG IN THERE, and I will be praying for you.. <333
