Why Do The Surgeons And Others Try To Get You To Have A Breast Reduction?
They keep trying to get me to have a breast reduction. I have been happy with myself all my life. Now I am self conscious and can't accept myself. Every single time I go to any appointment, they say, you have large breasts, people like you with large breasts, abnormally large breasts and so on will have those issues. etc. I mean they will say things like this about 4-5 times in a fifteen minute visit. It is crazy. I don't understand their method. Are they trying to get me to not like myself?
The reason there mentioning this is because you have less chance of getting breast cancer if there smaller(less areas that can have tumors)!!!???. But if you have all ready gone through whatever surgery you had for breast cancer I dont see the reason for that at all. Unless it has to do with the size of your other breast. Then again if you had both breasts that had cancer in them their logic to me is totally off. Or the last option here is they can make more money on another surgery procedure. Some times I wonder if doctors do have your best interest when it comes to having things done. Or just tell them I'm not interested in having any more surgeries done to me. Or just ask them straight out what are the pros and cons of having a breast reduction and why now are you bringing this subject up. Remember girlfriend you are still in control of what is done to your body. If your happy with what you have that is all that matters.
Unless they can provide you with uncontrovertable medical evidence that big boobs are more prone to develop CA, don't be afraid to start every visit with the statement: "I know I have big boobs; you don't have to tell me. I'm keeping them, so don't even think about raising that subject with me". Your body, your choice.
@A MyBCTeam Member: probably because in their experience, they have encountered many big-breasted women with back/neck/shoulder issues. But that doesn't mean all big breasted women have issues, so they should not presume, and they should not continue to push if you've made it clear you're happy as you are.
Be assertive - tell them flat out you're not interested and don't wish to discuss it further! If they persist, walk those big boobies of yours right out the door 👍
I know why put yourself through more pain and mental issues over it. Plus I don't think you would be able to feel your breast anymore after any surgery.
I strongly agree with Sue10. If you choose another team, please let the current team and the Administrator that oversees them the reason for the change in a kind professional manner.
