On April 3 I had a double mastectomy and DIEP flap surgery. A couple of weeks later the flap on my right breast died and I had to have it removed (April 18). The plastic surgeon placed an extender in my breast for a future implant. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I developed a bacterial infection, and the extender was tearing through my skin.
