I had a lumpectomy. Then 35 treatments of radiation. I didn't have to do Chemo because if the numbers on the onco type test. Still doing well after 6 years. Go with your gut. Blessings.

I am team bilateral mastectomy. My body showed me it could make cancer. I was not comfortable sitting around waiting for more.

Radiation is also not without its pitfalls. Tissue damage, bone damage, lung and heart damage are all possible. I wanted to go into my “golden years” with as much cardio/thoracic function as possible.

In conclusion, do what YOU feel is best. There is no real tight or wrong answer or solution.

Get a second opinion. I just had a lumpectomy and was getting ready to have the 25 radiation treatments until my insurance company went out of business. What a blessing in disguise. Went with another insurance company and met with the new Drs and he said that breast cancer research has improved over the years. He talked with his colleagues about my case and he said that I needed 5 treatments, not 25. I asked why the difference and he said money. The doctors/ insurance that was treating me thru surgery own the radiation centers and they are extremely expensive to maintain, this have the patients insurance pay for more treatments. The insurance company I went with doesn’t own the radiation treatment centers thus only 5 treatments. It’s your body. Get a second opinion. Trust your gut and the Lord.

Be sure about the number of radiations bcse 30 they are too many I had very bad side effects they didn’t go away after the radiation be careful bcse the dr they say it not true.the fatigue the lymphedema I still have my radiologist said is going away she didn’t care about the pain ask,ask a lot the questions did you need this amount?ask why please, take care I sending a hug
