I'm told no manicures, no colored polish while on chemo. So 8 weeks down and 12 more weeks to go. Not even a pedicure! My finger nails are turning bluish black from chemo and they want to monitor the discoloration. I'm having the same problem with my fingers turning color. Uck! I coat my fingernails with clear polish. That's it!

I’ve been on different chemotherapies and most I had no problems with artificial gel or gel powder or acrylics until Tykerb hit me and so went my nail strength.
Nails were crumbling below so now it’s more comfortable without. But it could have been my length of time on chemo in general as well. But for years had no problem with nails. If yours look and feel okay and your salon is super sterile you should have no problem. If they start to ache or hurt or get red rims then they would have to come off. No one wants an infection. Hope that helps!

My fingernails and toenails completely fell off during chemo. I had 3 rounds before my double mastectomy. Finishing up radiation now and the nail beds are back but extremely frail. I'm not going to have my nails done for a while fearing thar if I were to break or even hit a nail the wrong way, the entire nail bed would rip off. Very much the least of my worries at this time. Positive thoughts and prayers for you!

I'm told it will go away after I'm done with my chemo which will be in about 12 weeks. It started with one nail and now most of them are turning color along with my fingers. I see my onc tomorrow and we'll probably discuss it again. Thanks for your prayers. I'll take all I can get.
