Is Anyone Taking The Hormonal Drug Letrozole And If So Are You Having Side Effects? If So What Are The Effects.
Hi, I’m on Letrozole as well since June of 2023.
My side effects are mostly joint and bone pain along with muscle aches. I will use a weighted heating pad to aid in the pain as a modality before taking a medication. That’s just been my preference and so far it is helping. I will do so until it doesn’t.
Occasionally, I will get a headache. If I do, I have used an ice hat, like a beanie or will use a medication if that doesn’t help.
I will get tired frequently and will take a nap when needed for about 45 minutes or so. I also love the feel of the weighted blanket during the nap. I am well rested afterwards.
I will say that these side effects are far more manageable for me than were the ones I had while taking Anastrozole.
I had a unilateral mastectomy on 2/8/23 and had a 3.3cm tumor. My surgeon also removed three sentinel nodes, none had cancer. I did not need chemotherapy or radiation, yet am to remain on Letrozole for 9 more years. On May 2, I am scheduled for my reconstructive surgery, DIEPFlap.
Blessings to you, Karen
Hi Colleen welcome to BC team. I to had lumpectomy and sentinel node. Start my radiation on March 4 then after that hormonal therapy (Letrozole) for 5 years.
Thank you MARGIE.
A few things I forgot and one of the most obvious is the hot flashes/night sweats. They can be hellish. Dr put me on Effexor XR. It helps but doesn't take it away. I also go through periods where I don't sleep for one night. I usually go around 36 hours. Headaches also every now and then.
But like you said, beats the alternative.
You may experience these or other side effects or none at all. One day at a time.
Hi Peggy.
I have been on Letrozole since June 2021. I've been experiencing fatigue, bone pain, hair loss, and muscle pain. My primary bone pain is in my ankles and knees. My left ankle is the one that hurts the most. I'm going to have it checked out to make sure there isn't something else going on as I have previously torn a few ligaments in this ankle years ago.
One of the things my oncologist stresses is walking. I've not been very amenable to it, but have been trying.
You have to move around when you can. It helps.
