Hi Michele. I received Taxol and one of the side effects is neuropathy. There have been studies that have shown using cooling gloves and booties can help prevent neuropathy. This article does a nice job of explaining it. https://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/hand...

You put them on 30 minutes before the start of the infusion, keep them on during the chemo, and then keep them on for 30 minutes after. I will be honest with you—It’s pretty hard. There were times I said to myself “I’m going have to take this these off” because it was so painful (and I’m not a baby!) I’ve also read that some people will submerge their feet and hands in a basin of water with ice. That sounds like agony too.

I had a little cooler I would take to the infusion center with my gloves and booties on ice. I had to switch them out to a new pair during the infusion because they would start to melt.

How do you use these during chemo?

They were both good quality. I started to have slight tingling in my feet after my next to last dose of Taxol and my oncologist decreased the dose. He was a believer in the cold mitts/socks. I’m good now!
